Acupuncture and Chinese herbal medicine can be very helpful for maintaining a healthy pregnancy. Sometimes the changes and challenges of pregnancy, especially the first trimester, can be hard to handle for the new mom-to-be.

Acupuncture can be very helpful in the treatment of nausea and vomiting during pregnancy. Also, after the administration of an acupuncture treatment, a little “acupuncture-to-go” can be performed. Small needles on tiny stickers can be applied to anti-nausea points so that the patient can stimulate these for added benefit.

Acupuncture can also be very helpful for headaches, congestion, body aches, and fatigue during pregnancy. It is important to follow up with your medical provider regarding any changes that you have, however if all is well, acupuncture can be helpful in being more comfortable during this transitional time.

When there has been a history of miscarriage, acupuncture and Chinese herbal medicine can be helpful in supporting hormone levels and internal body strength necessary to maintain pregnancy. Also, Chinese medicine has been used in the case of threatened miscarriage.

In all regards, acupuncture can build energy and support immunity during all pregnancies. Staying in good pregnancy health and conserving energy will serve to promote an easier labor, delivery, and postpartum experience.
